First time to a shooting Range

I didn't had any childhood dreams of trying out shooting but when i heard about some of my collegues who tried the shooting ranges in hawaii as part of their onsite trip , i browsed for the ones nearby and found Sunset Shooting Range in Poconno,PA a goood choice esp for beginners. The web site is pretty decent and provided good information and even got a forum where you post your queried and instructor reply !!.This place is a 90 minute drive from Avenel NJ where i stay.I was worried after hearing horror stories from my colleagues about the injuries suffered due to recoiling effect of the heavy duty ones and did every homework (blogs, youtube) to make myself more familiar about the whole process.

Drive in Aruns Honda CRV was a smooth affair and the weather was shining and the roads free of traffic
.we reached there in 2 hrs with a short lunch break in between. The place was a hard find since my Garmin nuvi GPS couldnt locate the building.Any way we called them and got lucky the second time as we got some one sensible to guide us to the spot. The place seems to be busy as the parking lot was full and we had to wait for 30 minutes to find a parking space.Once we were in there was a small queue and we were asked to enter our names and ID details in the register. We set off to the field which is an open area.We were send back and asked to wear the gear which includes the ear plugs and glasses. All instructors were busy and we waited for another 15 minutes watching the area and getting familiar.Soon our instructor Dan was with us and we told them we are beginners and he suggested we start with a .22 Rifle.Dan explained us the mandatory safety briefing and we got ready to take a shot .They use real bullets as opposed to most other ranges which uses pellets.Dan loaded the gun and set 30 yard target which i think is standard for the Rifles. The recoiling wasnt bad as i thought and i got comfortable with the fact the chance of me getting hurt or hurting others seems very slim !!!Next we tried the hand guns and tried the 9 mm glock followed by a 9 mm beretta. For handguns they have paper targets at 10 yard distance. These are more fun compared to rifles as the target is pretty close and if aim properly you hit it clean. Also they hand over the paper target once you are done . The Last we tried was the all favourite AK47.This was kinda tough to handle as the recoiling was bit too much . I used the hand rest to reduce the effect.Overall we tried around 40 rounds and came out quite cheap, around 35 bucks.

Overall this was a great trip .They handed us paper targets back and i was pretty happy with the results .10 out of the 18 were perfect hits and the others were pretty close.
I would definitely plan to go there again and next want to try the shot guns as well the M4's.

A days Life - My son

My son Akhil is now 2 years and 3 months and he is now getting it to help himself from getting bored. His routine is pretty the same. Wake up at 6 AM ,he ll get up from the bed and come to the living room, head down to my arms. Then i will need to take him and go to the kitchen and put him beside and while i make tea , he ll need his share of things - a spoon of sugar and quarter spoon of tea powder !!!!...once he is done with this , he ll take his toys and start playing . 7 AM he watch Elmo & then 7.30 is the breakfast time. By 9 , he is ready with the bath and go to the day care. He spends 3 hrs there and Aparna picks him back around 12.30. Once he had his lunch , he sleeps till 3.30 to 4 ,depending on whether his mummy is beside him....Now the evening session starts....He ll have his milk glass ready when he wakes up and once done,he moves to curious George cartoon...I will bak mostly 7 PM and he is ready there waiting. Once i m bak , his energy level peaks up soo much that my neighbourhood guy is complaining of excessive noise 3 - 4 times !!!... Any way now Akhil plays hide and seek with his dad or play with water ,or with some snack food. His favourite hobby is to get some snack food and drop it in the floor and move his bycycle on top of it to powder it !!!!..its such a mess that Aparna hates to clean the stuff....By 8.30 We have dinner and while Aparna cleans the dishes ,he will get his tooth brushing and get ready for the good nite sleep...He will put the Thomas nite dress and say good nite and bak to sleep y 9 PM ........

Kids grow soo fast that by the time you realise they will be in school.I make it a point to take pics of all his little moments as well as the milestones and keep it ..It would be such a nice experience going through it after say 10 years..
